The difference between white hat SEO and black hat SEO

Posted by FaqeerMuhammad at 07:06 0 Comments
The search engine optimization (SEO) is a good chance to promote your blog on Google search results and other search engines. For those who don't understand how SEO works, I've posted some articles on this blog that may help, but it's important to understand that there are good and bad techniques that could have a direct impact on your ranking. So, in this post I'll talk about the terms known to those who are familiar with SEO - the black and white hat - and we will get to know what's good and what is not when we think about optimizing our website and its content.

What is black hat seo?

From the 'SEO dictionary', the term black hat has to do with the abusive techniques that will force the search engines to look at a specific site and rank it. This might work at first, but the algorithms can already see some of these techniques that have become common for a fast result.

Such practices to trick the search engines are, for example, the excessive use of keywords, especially in headings and subheadings; transparent keywords to the user - the so-called hidden text, automatically generated content, pages redirecting automatically to other content and more.

What is white hat seo?

The white hat has to do with the good techniques in the 'eyes' of search engines. These are considered ethical techniques for the ranking, helping, thus, the positioning of a website or blog. However, working the white hat is a process that requires dedication and results may take longer to appear (this is why so many people opt for black hat in order to 'try' something more 'effective') but the results could be much more stable and satisfactory.

Keep in mind that Google has good tricks up its sleeve to penalize anyone who doesn't act in accordance with the policies and rules of their website - this includes removing your page from any of the positions. Fair enough, after all, why Google would 'reward' somebody with the top spot if he doesn't provide good content for his users and, at the same time, doesn't meet the requirements of the algorithm?

For those who are interested and want to stay on top of Google search results, visit this webmaster guidelines page. There, you can find further information about how to create a good content, how the design of your blog/site should be and how to work with your links. There you can also find mentions about black hat techniques.

5 Easy Ways to Improve the SEO of a blog & Boost Traffic

5 easy ways to improve the SEO of a blog
A blogger needs to know at least the minimum on SEO. For it, you don't need to be an SEO expert but you need to know the minimum so that your posts are well indexed in the search engines.

The phrase "content is king" is one of the widest spread Internet memes being used by so many bloggers, with the idea that you should focus on having quality content, while the rest don't matter much. This is not true. Quality content is important, but it shouldn't be the only concern of a blogger today. In addition to producing quality content, your text needs to be optimized for the search engines.

5 easy ways to improve the SEO of a blog

Now, let's see what would be the basics that any blogger needs to learn about SEO and other simple SEO knowledge. Below are 5 easy tips to improve the SEO of your blog:

1. Define the keyword

When you write a post, it is recommended to choose the keyword (or term) suitable for your text. What you want is that this keyword - or term - to be searched on Google, and then get your post among the top. For this, you need to use this keyword a few times in the text.

For example, here the keyword could be SEO, but this term is too generic and I could hardly get in the top for this search. Then I'll work with a phrase or a long tail keyword, so that this post will rank for the term "easy ways to improve the SEO of a blog". I will use this phrase a few times, but without overdoing it.

2. Use the keyword in the post title

Now that I have defined the keyword, I will use it in the post title. This step is very important, and certainly will help you to get a better rank in search engines. As you can see, what I have in the title is the easy ways to improve the SEO of a blog keyword, along with other words to form an attractive and optimized title for SEO.

3. Use the keyword in the H2 tags

You must also use heading tags (h2, h3) in your posts. Here, I am using the keyword "easy ways to improve the SEO of a blog" in a H2 heading. Do this always, because it also helps to become well positioned in the search results. If you don't know or don't understand what are the heading tags, I would suggest to do a further research on this subject.

4. Use the keyword in the text

Make use of your chosen keywords throughout the text. Especially in the first paragraph (please note that I have repeated the title in italics in the first sentence). But be careful when doing this, there is a maximum and minimum limit for that. A good keyword density is between 1.5% to 4.5% for best results. Less than that will have no effect and more than that can alert the search engines and your text might be considered spam.

5. Publish Posts with 300 words or more

Posts under 300 words have little chance to be among the top results in search engines. Of course, you will be able to rank for multiple keywords that are less popular with less than 300 words, but for the most competitive keywords that have the potential to bring a greater number of visits, it will be nearly impossible.

Thus, it is recommended to write posts with more than 300 words. It's not hard when you really understand the topic you're talking about.

Blogger is a popular CMS which is being used by millions of Bloggers. The best thing of it is that it is owned by Google which helps the web masters to engage their blog with Google and get more traffic from Google. There we can also install custom templates but one thing, most of templates are not SEO optimized because these are designed by different developers. So if you are also using any custom template or default template then you should check that it is search engine optimized or not. If no then you will have to optimize it for getting handsome traffic and improving errors in web master tools account. So in the today's tutorial we are going to learn that how can we make our Blogger Template SEO friendly.
In order to SEO optimize any template we need to do little changes in different part of our template. Below I'm going to discuss that all. You just need to read it carefully along with following the simple steps.

Display Post Title First In Search Results

Have you ever noticed that your post title appears after the blog title in search results ? If yes then continue following this section. First of all look the at the example below.
After seeing the above image, I think you have got my point. The reason why post title should appear first in search results is that when someone is going to search any content he will read the only few beginning words of title now if that words are matched with the content which he/she need then you will enter to that page otherwise he will leave it. In order to display post title first in search results simply follow the below steps.
  • Go To Blogger >> Template >> Backup Your Template
  • Click Edit HTML and Find For Below Code.
 <title><data:blog.pageTitle/></title>
  • Replace The Above Code With The Following Code
 <b:if cond='data:blog.pageType == &quot;item&quot;'>
<title><data:blog.pageName/> | <data:blog.title/></title>
<b:else/>
<title><data:blog.pageTitle/></title>
</b:if>
  • Save Your Template & You Have Done!
  • Let's Jump To Next Step.

Adding Meta Description & Keyword Tags

So, This is another section our post and in this section we're going to add meta description and keywords tags in your blog which will tell the search engine's crawler that in which category your blog is based. It will also help the search engines to show your blog's posts on proper keywords. In order to add meta description and keyword tags, Simple follow the below steps.
  • Go To Blogger >> Template >> Edit HTML
  • Find For <head> and Paste The Following Code Below <head>
<meta content='YOUR BLOG's DESCRIPTION GOES HERE' name='description'/>
<meta content='KEYWORDS GOES HERE' name='keywords'/>
  • Replace YOUR BLOG's DESCRIPTION GOES HERE With Your Description and KEYWORDS GOES HERE With Your Keywords
  • The maximum characters for description is 150 characters and also 150 characters for keywords.
  • Finally Save It !

Optimize Post Title Using H2 Tag

This is said by many professional bloggers that we should use H2 tag in our post titles for better search engine optimization. By default in Blogger, H3 tag is used for post title but using H2 tag will be better. To use H2 tag in post title just follow the below simple steps.
  • Go To Blogger >> Template >> Edit HTML
  • Find For Below Code
<b:if cond='data:post.title'>
  •  You Will See Something or Similar Code Like The Image Below
  •  In the above image you can see in starting that post title starts with H3 tag now you just need to replace H3 with H2 and also replace the ending tag </h3> with </h2>. After replacing you code will look like below image.
  • After optimizing post title, Just save your template and you have done!
  • CONGRATULATIONS! Your Template is successfully search engine optimized!

Add Custom Robots txt File In Blogger

Posted by FaqeerMuhammad at 12:04 0 Comments
Today we're going to enable a custom Robots.Txt file in Blogger which can really help you to index your blog in Google faster and it will also make your blog more search engine friendly. Robots.Txt file is used in every website but in the past with old Blogger interface we're unable to add that file in our blogs but now in the new interface which is really amazing with a lot of great features we can enable that file in Blogger. Those who don't know about Robots.Txt file can read the below passage to understand that file.

What is Robots.Txt File ?

That is a simple text file in which the website owner use to write the commands for the search engine's crawler. It means that we can instruct the search engine's crawler with that file that we part of our site can be indexed or not. That commands are written in different coding which is only for search engine's crawler. You can see your robots.txt file just by following the below URL.
http://www.yourdomain.com/robots.txt

What Areas You Should Disallow For Crawling In Your Blog?

So, This question maybe coming in your mind that which areas of your blog you should disallow for crawling. In fact, You can disallow any area of your blog but there are some important areas for disallowing. If you disallow those areas then you blog will be more search engine friendly and that areas are Search Result pages, Archive pages and labels pages. However, Below I'm giving you an search engine friendly robots.txt file which will help you a lot.

Enable Custom Robots.txt File In Blogger

So, This process is so easy just follow the simple steps below.
  • Go To Blogger >> Settings >> Search Preferences
  • Look For Custom Robots.Txt Section In The Bottom and Edit It.
  • Now a check box will appear tick mark "Yes" and a box will appear where you have to write the robots.txt file. So if you want to use our file then copy the code below and paste it in that box.
User-agent: Mediapartners-Google
User-agent: *
Disallow: /search?q=*
Disallow: /*?updated-max=*
Allow: /
Sitemap: http://www.yourdmomain.com/feeds/posts/default?orderby=updated

  • Note : The first line "User-agent: Mediapartners-Google" is for Google AdSense. So if you are using Google AdSense in your blog then remain it same otherwise remove it.
  • Click "Save Changes".
After adding the file now you must be wanted to understand your file that what we have allowed and disallowed. So, I've listed every command with detail below.

Explanations

  • User-agent: Mediapartners-Google : So, This is a first command which is for those blogs which are using Google AdSense if you are not using Google AdSense then remove it. In this command, we're telling the AdSense's separate robot that crawl all pages which are having AdSense Ads.
  • User-agent: * : Here the User-agent is calling the robot and * is for all the search engine's robots like Google, Yahoo etc.
  • Disallow: /search?q=* : This line tells the search engine's crawler not to crawl the search pages.
  • Disallow: /*?updated-max=* : This one disallows the search engine's crawler to do not index or crawl label or navigation pages.
  • Allow: / : This one allows to index the homepage or your blog.
  • Sitemap : So this last command tells the search engine's crawler to index the every new or updated post.
Got It ?

How Can I Add a Command For Disallowing Any Page?

So if you are interested in adding your own command then you can also do it. Here is an example for disallowing the contact page Disallow: /p/contact-us.html . So, first you will need to replace /p/contact-us.html which is other part of the domain with another. It mean you just need to exclude the main domain and just type remain part of the page. Two things you should remember that add your custom command below User-agent: * and per line = per command.

If you still have any problem please comment below.
